Real Wing Tsun

Real Wing Tsun
(RWT) is a Chinese martial art system. It is characterized with simplicity and logic of techniques applied against stronger opponent. It focuses on real fight applications. Unlike numerous other far east martial arts it cannot be considered a sport, due to the fact that majority of practiced solutions (eg. elbow strikes) cannot be applied in any form of sport competitions. It has to be more concerned as a realistic self-defense than anything else.

There are numerous legends about the origins of the system. One says that between 250 and 300 years ago in Buddhist Shaolin temple a nun called Ng Mui has elaborated a new fighting style and then taught it to a village girl called Yim Wing Tsun (which stands for Beautiful Spring, BTW). According to another legend the style has originated in Shaolin temple not as a creation of single person, but as combined effort of 5 main Shaolin Kung Fu masters willing to make one, simple to learn but effective against stronger (and armed) opponent style. They practiced in pavilion called Wing Tsun. Whatever is the truth there is no doubt that RWT high but relatively closed position shows its links with southern China. The style uses numerous turns and position changes, which is aimed in effective use of opponent's force against the attacker himself.

The principle of RWT is effectiveness. Strikes are short and quick, often combined in series. Hands and legs often move simultaneously (rule of simultaneous defense and attack). Fight typically takes place in short distance and lasts no more than few moments. RWT applies not only fists, palms, fingers, legs, feet, elbows or knees but also shoulders, head and practically the whole body movements, which makes the style not only ultra effective in combat, but also very well increases general physical conditions of practitioners.

Teaching program consist of 3 bare hands forms (Siu Nim Tao, Chum Kiu and Biu Tze) a form with traditional Bart Cham Dao swords and one with a long wooden pole. It also applies sections with a wooden dummy (this is how the wooden exercise tool with 3 arms and 2 legs is called). The exercise scenarios include defense against multiple attackers, against a knife, stick, against grappling etc.

There are no age restrictions and one can join RWT classes at any time. If you want to learn very effective self defense system and increase your general fitness - you are warmly welcome!
